You're here because you're suffering, stuck, and ready to live life in a different, more fulfilling way.
I've been there. Hi! I'm Callye Lawrence, a psychotherapist in Austin, and I know what it's like for anxiety, indecision, and perfectionism to be roadblocks to happiness. And I know what it takes to move to a place of greater peace.
therapy is a place where you will learn to relate to yourself and your struggles in a new way.
Becoming a therapist was a natural step for me given my tendency to overthink everything. I spent most of my childhood feeling a bit out of place, frequently anxious, and always trying to understand myself and other people better (mini existential crises were a frequent occurrence for me growing up!). And I used to think that if I could just control what others thought of me, destroy any feelings of anxiety I had, and become the most perfect version of myself, then I would finally be happy. Turns out though, the more I obsessed over things and tried to control life, the worse I felt. It was only through mindfulness, radical acceptance, self-compassion, and having a good sense of humor about life that I was able to get to a place of happiness. And that's what I want to help you accomplish.
When working with me, you can expect someone who is very down to earth, non-judgmental, and insightful. Having a sense of humor about life is a top priority of mine, so you can expect a healthy dose of light-heartedness and humor in our interactions. I will help you explore how you got where you're at, process any painful feelings that might show up along the way, and then collaborate with you to find more effective ways to handle things. In therapy, we aren't focused on changing life -- we're focused on changing your relationship to yourself and your life.
I'd love to hear from you to see if we're a good match for therapy. Call or email now to set up a free phone consultation, or feel free to schedule an appointment online if you're ready to get started!
I love basking in the sunshine, hanging out with my two poorly behaved dogs, eating breakfast tacos with extra cheese, watching lots of stand-up comedy, and playing soccer. I'm a big-time animal lover and would have lions as pets if I could -- ya know, if it weren't for the fact that they'd kill me and all.
